Each week, the U.S. Treasury auctions 4-week bills as well as 3 and 6 month bills. Two-year and 5-year notes are auctioned every month. Ten-year notes are auctioned eight times a year while 5-year, 10-year, and 20-year TIPS are auctioned two to four times per year. In the past, the 30-year bond was auctioned about two or three times a year, but its issuance was suspended in October 2001. The Treasury auctioned the 30-year bond twice in 2006. The timing and frequency of all Treasury auctions are subject to change, making it important to monitor the Treasury calendar frequently.
